My friend Trevor is holding up my zine along with a beer, specifically a Rainier. There are red lens flares in the photo and a large mirror in the background. You can see me holing my camera with a flash on it.

This is my friend Trevor (@poetic_driud) holding up my zine and a Rainier.

For my first zine of 2023, I wanted to make a zine that would act as an exercise in figuring out what direction my art would go in for the upcoming year. I am inspired by art movements like Dadaism and Surrealism so I decided to format this exercise as two manifestos, one for photography and one for making zines.

I also made this zine available online using HeyZine. HeyZine allowed me to add my own narration to the zine so I can read it to you. I also paired with a field recording because the vibe felt right. Check it out below! You can mute the recording by clicking the speaker icon in the top right. Also, I strongly recommend viewing in fullscreen on a laptop or desktop. I think the experience is much better.

If you would like to purchase a physical copy of the zine, you can check out the listing in my Ko-Fi shop below.

I wrote a blogpost on Medium about my goal for 2023 to make twelve zines as well as my experience making this one! Check it out by clicking the image below!
